The 2019 Apex Outback Postie Bike Ride – Justin Voumard Memorial Ride

Justin or ‘Buzz’ as most of us knew him passed away on December 8th, 2018 aged just 51 years. Justin was our Chairman and a huge driving force behind the success of the ride.

He was unselfishly involved with the community for many many years, a proud Apexian who went out of his way to simply help others, never for the accolades. He was an incredibly humble man, but the first to show gratitude. His genuine empathy towards others was felt by everyone that ever met him.

Justin was born and raised in Port Pirie and, being a country lad, he was always playing sport of some description. As he approached his first job at the local ANZ Bank, he already had a strong work ethic, and values built on integrity and respect.

By the time he was 21 he was transferred to Maitland and changed jobs to start his career as a car salesman. It was soon after moving to Maitland that he joined the local Apex Club.

It was with Apex that he found his calling for his long-standing community work. Along the way he held most positions in the Club and was awarded ‘Young Apexian of the Year’ and ‘Apexian of the Year’ at state and national level. His last award coming within his last days ‘Life Membership’. A true recognition for his fantastic contribution throughout the years.

Justin became involved with the Postie Bike Ride in our first year 2008. He was pivotal in building the ride to a point of making the construction of the Copper Coast Retreats a reality. His vision and drive maintained the momentum of the ride over the years and this year will see the magic one millionth dollar be raised. From humble beginnings to funding and building four cancer retreats to help South Australian families create memories, he has left an amazing legacy for us all to continue.

Justin is survived by wife Andrea and children Max, Drew and Jordan.

He is sorely missed by everyone.

RIP mate.
